Semantic Surface
What does the page mean?
It defines:
- The page’s subject and purpose
- Entities and their relationships
- Products, services and locations
- Facts, claims and limitations
- Sources and provenance
- Units, assumptions and definitions
- Parity between what people read and what machines are told
- The smallest useful human interface
Published as structured data and as prose that says the same thing. Parity is the deliverable: if the machine layer disagrees with the page, that is a bug on our side, not a difference of audience.
Connections
Semantic Surface → names → WebMCP
The schema names the fields a tool’s arguments are drawn from, so a call and the page agree on what a value means and in what unit.
Semantic Surface → quotes → Human Gate
The gate quotes the published record back (the object, every argument, and the consequence) so a person approves what the page actually says rather than a summary of it.
Surface Watch → checks → Semantic Surface
Structured-data regression monitoring checks that the published meaning still parses, and still matches the page a person reads.
